Multiple Sclerosis

Watch the video below to see our approach to Multiple Sclerosis.

1 - What Is Multiple Sclerosis?

Multiple sclerosis, or MS, is a chronic and oftentimes progressive, and potentially disabling illness involving the brain, the spinal cord, and the optic nerves in the eyes. People who struggle with MS notice issues involving their muscle control, balance, vision, and other basic bodily functions, but the effects and severity of MS symptoms differ between each and every patient.

2 - Problem

The biggest problem that faces MS patients is that once they get diagnosed and put on medication - that is pretty much where all the care stops beyond just going for MRIs to watch the progression. The treatment at this point is only pharmaceutical drugs to suppress the immune system to try and slow the progression and there is nothing else that can be done to help the symptoms that they are experiencing. While it may help in some ways, most patients still experience quite the number of symptoms that drastically affect their lives. And sadly, the progression always still happens. And while 95% of patients live to normal life expectancy, they tend to endure much more suffering than is necessary when the disease progresses. MS takes so much of life away, and the symptoms can range and vary. One of the most dangerous things that our MS patients say on their first visits is, “if it stays like this, I’ll be okay.” It's always living on eggshells. It’s the hope that things don’t progress and get worse.

3 - Fix

I’m here to tell you that there is a significantly more modern way to approach how MS affects your brain and nerves and how your immune system is involved. The first step is we need to run the right labs. There are lab markers that are absolutely associated with the progression and worsening - even the causation of MS. And in all my years of doing this and all these MS patients, I have gotten to work with, almost none of them have ever had these labs run. In fact, usually, when we do run them and the patient invariably looks them up on google, they end up downright angry that these markers are there, and there are treatments that can be done for them, that put the patient back into a place of control where they feel better AND they aren’t living on eggshells about when things will progress. There have been so many advances not only in the research of how MS affects the body but also in the field of Biotechnology- technology that is designed to amplify and stimulate healing in the body and nervous system that was previously not available to us. MS is still treated exactly the same as it was before 2000, the approach needs a serious overhaul. Doing the same things over and over gets us the same result, technology has brought us to the forefront of being able to make changes to the condition that most people are still told aren’t possible.
